Hot Sting

I needed to come up with a cognac drink for a NY Day menu and one of the guests was from New Zealand so I knew of only two things that come from there. Kiwi fruit and Manuka honey. Kiwi and cognac do not taste great together so I made this cocktail. Warm the honey and the cherry juice as well as the reduced balsamic together while covered to dissolve the honey into everything. remove and allow to cool before using in the cocktail.


  • 1 oz Cognac
  • ½ oz Cointreau
  • 4 oz Black Cherry Juice
  • Splash of Balsamic Vinegar
  • Splash of Warmed Manuka Honey
  • Garnish with a Lemon zest and a cherry


  1. Combine ingredients in a shaker half full of ice
  2. Shake until gently chilled
  3. Pour into a martini glass
